While front of house roles are important to guest experience, they can’t run an event alone! Often the background invisible hand to guests, the back of house team keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes.

Back of House tasks on events may include:

  • Moving event equipment, tables and other furniture to designated areas.
  • Set Up Kitchen Areas for chefs to work and Back of House (BOH) Clearing Areas.
  • Set up coffee boilers and water urns ready for coffee service.
  • Keep back of house areas tidy and operable, easing the flow of the area.
  • Clear and pack away items that come from front of house, e.g. Glassware, plateware, table linen, event design, beverage and other equipment.
  • Supporting the food, beverage and kitchen teams during the event.
  • Loading and unloading vans (pallets, roll cages, boxes of equipment, furniture and event design etc).
  • Setting up events, back of house spaces. Maintaining order during service and pack down while the event is finalizing, to then load out.
  • Work as a team or take initiative to ensure back of house is clear, operable and on task. 

Kitchen Porter / General Assistant

Assist chefs and kitchen staff with the BOH kitchen preparation of food, beverage and equipment required. Responsible for maintaining kitchen organisation, cleanliness, basic food preparation (including washing up if necessary); ensuring health and safety protocols are adhered to.

Warehouse Assistant

Assist the warehouse and logistics team ensuring items/equipment are packed and stored away correctly and your working space is clear.

Event Porters

Can work Individually or as part of a team, able to support food, beverage and kitchen teams onsite to ensure a smooth load in, event throughout and load out.

Driver Porters

A Driver transports food, beverage and/ or equipment safety and responsibly to venues. Experienced in packing, loading/unloading vans and transportations.

Back of House Manager

Responsible for managing all Back of house staff and activities, taking control on large scale events, armed with event experience and venue knowledge to flow events.
